Is weed killer safe for pets and children?
Keep pets and children off the sprayed area until it has completely dried, which is usually a couple of hours on a dry day. Once it has dried onto the weeds it is fine to walk on, and I will tell you on the day roughly how long to stay off it.
The important bit is the drying time. While the treatment is still wet it can be picked up on paws, shoes or little hands, so the simple rule is to stay off the treated drive, path or patio until it is dry to the touch. On a warm, still day that is often an hour or two. If it is cooler or damp it can take a bit longer, so I would rather give you a sensible window on the day than a number that turns out to be optimistic.
A few easy things help: bring pet water bowls and children’s toys in off the area before I spray, keep the gate shut so the dog cannot wander onto it, and wait until it has dried before letting anyone back on. After that there is nothing special to do.
If you have a particular worry, for example a dog that eats everything or a bed of edibles near the paving, tell me when you send your photo and I will factor it in. I spray weeds on hard surfaces (driveways, paths, patios and gravel) across Leicestershire and keep the treatment off your borders and lawn.
