Grasses, moss, dandelions and the tough perennials root down into the joints and the sub-base, which is exactly why pulling them or jet-washing never lasts: you clear the top, the root stays, and it’s back within a few weeks.

Why it stays gone
The weedkiller I use is professional-grade, a lot stronger than the shop-shelf stuff, and I’m qualified to use it. It works its way through the whole plant: it’s drawn in through the leaves and carried right down into the roots. That’s the part that matters. Scorch the leaves or scrape the tops off and the root just pushes up fresh growth. Kill the root and the weed is done.
It takes a couple of weeks to show and up to four to finish the job, so give it the full four weeks. Once it reaches the soil it stops working, so it won’t linger or creep across to the plants you want to keep. If a shower’s due within a few hours of me spraying, I’ll reschedule rather than waste the job.

If the weeds I’ve treated aren’t dead within four weeks, tell me and I’ll come back and spray that area again at no charge. That covers my work going wrong. It doesn’t cover brand-new weeds seeding somewhere I never treated, and it’s a re-spray rather than a refund, but on the ground I’ve sprayed, if it’s not dead, I put it right.
