Weed spraying · Coalville

Weed spraying in Coalville, from £15

Weeds coming up all over your drive, path or patio? I’m The Weed Guy, and I cover Coalville and the North West Leicestershire villages around it. I spray hard surfaces and kill weeds off at the root, so they yellow out and stay down instead of pushing back through the joints a couple of weeks later. Send me a photo and your postcode and I’ll text you a fixed price within 24 hours.

Coalville drives, and where the weeds take hold

Coalville grew up out of the pits, so a lot of the older streets round Whitwick, Hugglescote and Greenhill are terraced miners’ housing with paved and flagged frontages and back entries. Weeds line up along every joint and kerb edge on those, and along the path down the side of the house. The newer estates on the South East Coalville side, out past Hugglescote Grange, are mostly block paving, where seed drops into the sand-filled joints and roots down into the sub-base below.

Out towards the National Forest edge and the bigger plots at Thringstone and Bardon you get more gravel and stone drives, which is where weeds spread fastest of all. And Bardon Hill quarry sits right on the doorstep, cutting granite and aggregate the way it has for a few hundred years, so plenty of the chippings and sub-base under local drives started life a mile up the road. Weeds seed happily in all of it. I spray the lot, hard surfaces only, the whole area rather than the patches that show. No lawns, no borders, no gardening, no upsells.

Why it stays gone

Yank a weed out, hoe it off or blast the joints with a pressure washer and you only ever take the green off the top. The root is still sitting down in the joint or the sub-base, and within a few weeks it throws up fresh growth, which is the merry-go-round most people are stuck on. The weedkiller I use is the professional stuff and I’m qualified to put it down: the plant takes it in through the leaf and carries it all the way down into the root, so the whole thing dies off, not just the bit you can see.

Give it a couple of weeks to start turning and up to four to finish the job. If you want the full detail, here’s what actually kills weeds for good. And if rain’s forecast within a few hours of me spraying, I’ll move you to another day rather than waste the treatment.

How you get a price

There’s no measuring appointment and no sitting in waiting for someone to turn up and look. I price the whole thing off a photo.

  1. 1

    Send me a photo

Snap the weedy bits, whatever they are, and message them over with your Coalville postcode.

  2. 2

    Price by text

A quick look at your photo is enough for me to set the figure and message it across, usually the same day. No hourly rate, nothing sprung on you on the day.

  3. 3

    Booked in

Say the word and I get you in the diary, usually within the week.

  4. 4

    Sprayed off

I treat the whole surface down to the root, and the weeds turn yellow and die back over the following weeks.

Keeping it clear through the season

The spray kills off what’s growing now, but it can’t stop next season’s seed blowing back in and settling in the joints again. So if you’d rather just not have to think about it, there’s an optional plan: I come back three times a year, in spring, mid-summer and early autumn, and keep on top of it. No contract, no direct debit, you pay per visit and cancel whenever you like. A surface I already look after is a quicker job, so it usually lands in the cheapest band. The one-off spray is still the main thing I do; the plan’s just there if you want it.

Questions I get from Coalville

Do you cover the villages around Coalville?

Yes. As well as Coalville itself I cover the old colliery villages and towns nearby: Ibstock, Ellistown, Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Swannington, Bagworth, Coleorton, Heather, Ravenstone, Donington le Heath and Measham. Put your postcode on the photo and I’ll let you know if you’re in reach before I quote.

I’ve got a gravel drive out towards the National Forest edge, can you spray that?

Gravel is no bother. Out past Thringstone and Bardon towards the forest edge, a lot of the bigger plots run to loose stone drives, and weeds root into gravel quicker than into anything else. I treat the whole spread of it rather than the odd clump that catches your eye.

Dead in four weeks, or I re-spray free

Give the spray the full four weeks to work through. If the weeds I treated aren’t dying back by then, tell me and I’ll come back out and do that area again for nothing. It’s a re-spray of the ground I covered rather than a refund, and it won’t stretch to fresh weeds seeding somewhere I never sprayed, but on what I’ve treated, if it’s not dead, I put it right.
